I have worked in ICT business for over a decade. Prior to Qentinel, I had worked as a programmer, software architect, user interface designer and test engineer. In 2003, I joined Qentinel as a consultant. Later on I become a team leader, then a managing consultant with a sales responsibility. Currently, I work as a business area manager.
I wanted to join Qentinel because I felt that concentrating exclusively on testing and quality assurance was a brilliant business idea and Qentinel is a solidly managed company. Here I found a team of soul mates; software professionals who appreciate how important testing is both for a competitive business advantage and in ensuring success in a software project. The demand for testing specialists is growing rapidly, since few organizations can provide the required expertise.
I am responsible for marketing, sales, contracts and project delivery for designated customers. Additionally, I sometimes still work in customer projects, often as a test manager or in an expert role. The projects at Qentinel vary widely in duration. Sometimes a project can last only a week, while others go on for more than a year. Usually, we work as part of the client's own testing team.
My job at Qentinel is the most interesting I have ever had, with a variety of career responsibilities - moving from a purely technical career path to one in sales and management felt very natural and organic. Whether in consulting or in sales, when I socialise and work with my colleagues, I feel like I am at home. Like me, they understand the importance of testing. In my opinion, the most important thing for a software testing professional is not the knowledge of technical trivia, but to have communications skills, openness and a willingness to learn something new all the time.
